The Board of Trustees of Wilkes University has approved the following faculty members for tenure and promotion:
Vicki Jones EdD ’19 was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of graduate education.
Jones joined Wilkes as an assistant professor in 2018. She holds a doctorate in education, specializing in curriculum and instruction, from Wilkes University, a master’s degree in education with a reading specialist certification from Old Dominion University, as well as a master’s degree in educational leadership from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from East Stroudsburg University.
Her research centers on reading instruction and the role of interpersonal and intrapersonal competencies in students’ and educators’ academic success and well-being. Jones has been published in statewide and international journals and has presented her work at professional conferences and campus panel discussions.
In July, Jones will collaborate with colleagues to lead a professional development workshop on educator health and wellness as part of the University’s interprofessional initiatives. At Wilkes, she teaches and oversees graduate teacher education programs, including the initial teacher certification and reading specialist programs.

Na Yoon Kim was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of management.
Kim joined Wilkes in 2019 as an assistant professor of management in the Department of Finance, Accounting, and Management. She earned her doctorate from Cornell University, master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea.
Kim’s research examines psychological processes related to social identity and emotion in organizational settings. Since joining Wilkes, she has published peer-reviewed articles in journals such as The Journal of Social Psychology, Psychological Reports and The Journal of Creative Behavior.
She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses, including Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. Kim has been actively engaged in academic advising and student support, helping undergraduate students with academic planning and career preparation. She serves as the inaugural advisor to the University’s chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma and has served on several University committees.

Richard Muszynski III was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of quantitative management.
Muszynski joined Wilkes University in the summer of 2020 as an assistant professor of quantitative management in the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business and Leadership.
He earned his doctorate in business administration with a focus on operations and management science from Washington State University. He also holds master’s degrees in statistics and mathematics from Washington State University and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Lewis-Clark State College.
Muszynski’s research includes three publications and nine presentations. His current research projects are on topics including data envelopment analysis, understanding stock patterns, leadership styles and comparing economic and social factors between Global South and Global North countries.
He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses including operations management, business statistics, project management, quantitative decision analysis, and advanced analytical methods including simulation, optimization, data mining and regression analysis. Muszynski serves as an advisor to roughly 30 students per semester, where he regularly provides them with updates about their overall progress throughout the semester and advises on how they may improve or stay on track to graduate.

Charles Smargiassi MS ’08 was granted tenure and promoted to associate professor of undergraduate education.
Smargiassi joined Wilkes in 2018. He earned his doctorate in educational leadership and administration from the Pennsylvania State University. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Millersville University, a master’s degree in instructional technology from Commonwealth University – Bloomsburg and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wilkes University.
Smargiassi’s research interests are in the fields of values and ethics in educational leadership, instructional design and organizational learning. He has presented at numerous professional conferences on the subject of ethical leadership practices in education and has published peer reviewed articles on the same.
Smargiassi serves as the chair of the undergraduate and master level departments in the Dr. Richard Abbas Alley School of Education, where he oversees numerous programs for pre-service and in-service teachers.
