Wilkes University will host the seventh annual Pennsylvania Pain and Addiction Summit from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 25.
During this full-day conference, medical, legal and law enforcement professionals will discuss the current state of the opioid crisis, share approaches to critical issues and identify opportunities to approach the treatment of pain and substance use disorder. Jason Grimsley will serve as the keynote speaker.

Grimsley is a former Major League Baseball pitcher who played for seven teams over a memorable 15-year career. He was a member of both the 1999 and 2000 World Series champion New York Yankees.
Grimsley’s bestselling book, Cross Stitched, One Man’s Journey from Ruin to Restoration, was named to the #1 best-seller list twice and details his life from the highs of pro baseball success to the lows of addiction, near-suicide and the controversy surrounding the infamous doping scandal of 2007.
Matt Moyer, co-director of the documentary Inheritance, will host the closing discussion about his film, which explores the underlying causes of the opioid epidemic in America through the life of one boy and five generations of his extended family over 11 years.
The summit features 12 breakout sessions including:
- Psychedelic Therapy, More than Mushrooms
- MAT and The Disease Model of Addiction
- Federally Qualified Health Center as Recovery-Oriented System of Care
