A series of musical concerts are scheduled at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center from Dec. 5-8, 2021:
WILKES UNIVERSITY CHORUS AND CHAMBER SINGERS, Sun., Dec. 5, 3 p.m.
The Wilkes University Choral Ensembles concert will feature the University Chorus and the University Chamber Singers in a variety of songs that span the ages from the 16th through the 21st centuries. The concert is directed by Dr. Leesa Levy and accompanied by Tsukasa Mizuguchi Waltich.
CHAMBER ORCHESTRA, Mon., Dec. 6, 8 p.m.
The Wilkes University Chamber Orchestra concert, conducted by John Vaida, will feature music by Handel, Herbert, Ravel and Strauss.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE AND CIVIC BAND, Weds. Dec. 8, 7:30 p.m.
The Wilkes University Jazz Ensemble and Civic Band concert, conducted by Mark P. Johnson, will feature jazz standards including “Don’t Get Around Much Anymore” by Duke Ellington and Bob Russell, and “Smoke Gets In Your Eyes” by Otto Harbach and Jerome Kern. The Civic Band Orchestra will perform contemporary works “Symphony No. 1 The Lord of the Rings” by Johan de Meij, “New York From a Distance” by Daniel Dade, as well as works by Alessandro Stradella and John Philip Sousa.
