The results include a 100 percent pass rate for Wilkes pharmacy grads taking the Pennsylvania Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination.
Graduates from the Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy achieved a pass rate that exceeds the national average on the North American Pharmacist Licensure Examination (NAPLEX) and the Multistate Pharmacy Jurisprudence Examination (MPJE).
Wilkes Pharm.D. graduates who took the NAPLEX for the first time earned a 94 percent pass rate. The MPJE pass rate for Wilkes pharmacy graduates taking the Pennsylvania exam for the first time was 100 percent. Tests were taken between May and August 2020.
The NAPLEX is the national test that measures graduate readiness to practice pharmacy. It is just one component of the licensure process and is used by the boards of pharmacy as part of their assessment of a candidate’s competence to practice as a pharmacist. The national pass rate for those taking the NAPLEX for the first time is 92 percent, with an 89 percent national pass rate for all test takers.
The MPJE is a pharmacy law examination and was created by the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy to help individual state boards of pharmacy assess the competency and knowledge of pharmacy law. The national pass rate for those taking the Pennsylvania MPJE for the first time was 90 percent, with an 88 percent average for all test takers.
“I am particularly pleased with the 100 percent pass rate on the Pennsylvania MPJE. This is a difficult test that requires a detailed understanding of the laws that affect the practice of pharmacy. More importantly, they continue to help and care for each other and others, which is what has always made our students and graduates special,” said Scott Stolte, Dean of the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy.
