Three Wilkes University students received a scholarship opportunity to study abroad this summer in Spain.
Gabriel Velez, Madison Trauger and Cassie Oldt, received the Dr. Joseph Donald Stephens, DDS Global Scholars Award. The Dr. Joseph Donald Stephens, DDS Global Scholars Award provides students with scholarships to pursue their education in another country. The award was established by Wilkes University alumni Panos Kalaritis ’77 and Deborah (Stephens) Kalaritis ’78 in honor of her father, Joseph D. Stephens DDS, a 1951 graduate of Wilkes University. While in Spain, the students will take courses at Colegio Mayor Mara in Madrid and Malaga to earn nine credit hours. They will be immersed in the culture, visiting museums, monuments and learning with students local to the region.
