At Wilkes, you will… win awards.

Wilkes University Marketing Communications was recently recognized by CUPRAP (College and University Public Relations and Associated Professionals) at the 16th annual CUPPIE Awards and Spring Professional Development Conference held from March 8 to 10 in Lancaster. Wilkes received a bronze award for the new brand and subsequent branding campaign, “At Wilkes, You Will.”

The 2022 branding initiative was the culmination of a yearlong study that included focus groups and surveys. Over 2,800 students, faculty and staff participated, and shared what drives them, what they feel is important and how they perceive Wilkes. This data was the basis for revamped creative and messages that culminate in the Wilkes brand promise:

At Wilkes, we know you’re capable of more. And we know you’ll achieve it.
This is an incubator for whatever you find interesting. For those willing to work hard for whatever comes next. Where you’ll be asked one simple question above all:
What do you want to do? At Wilkes, you will.

The new brand was supported by a revamped creative platform and campaign that included a kick-off video and campus signage; design and messaging updates to all web and digital properties; a three-day photo shoot to build an updated and stylistic gallery of photos highlighting students, faculty, staff and campus facilities; revamped admissions materials for prospective graduate and undergraduate student and social-media campaigns featuring motion graphics, video and interactive elements.

Over 500 entries were received from colleges, universities and agencies in a variety of award categories. CUPPIE judges represented experts in the field of communications and included designers, writers, educators, corporate executives and media professionals.

Members of the Marketing Communications team include Brad Barry, Cory Burrell, Kelly Clisham, Ashleigh Crispell, Gabrielle D’Amico, Patty DeViva, Mandy Pennington and Cody Raspen. Kim Bower-Spence, who left Wilkes in June 2022, was also critical to the brand development process.
