Wilkes University’s Division of Performing Arts is excited to present its spring concert series from April 26-29, 2026, at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts and First Presbyterian Church. The concerts, which showcase vocal, orchestral and band performances, are free and open to the public.
Audiences can expect a range of modern composers and artists to classic pieces and songs that explore moving, lively and humanistic themes presented by talented students.

Chorus & Chamber Singers

The Wilkes University Chorus and Chamber Singers presents “Unchartered Waters,” a program featuring almost entirely of living composers such as Jennifer Lucy Cook and more, as well as arrangements by famous artists such as the Highwomen and Ruthie Foster. The Chamber Singers will also present Paul Hindemith’s “Six Chansons” on texts by Rike. The theme “Uncharted Waters” reflects nature and the many challenges in life people face, including making difficult decisions, starting a new chapter, grief and loss.
Chamber Orchestra

The Wilkes University Chamber Orchestra presents a “Rags to Riches” musical adventure that leaps from the rhythmic spark of ragtime to the lush sweep of Tchaikovsky’s ballet world. Joplin’s The Cascades, Handy’s soulful Memphis Blues and the regionally resonant Black Diamond Rag, a nod to our area’s proud anthracite coal heritage, bring color, character and local spirit to the program. Rossini’s sparkling Il signor Bruschino Overture and Dvořák’s fiery Slavonic Dances drive the evening with wit, warmth and rhythmic momentum. The night ends in pure orchestral glamour with the Waltz from Sleeping Beauty, a finale that shimmers with fairy‑tale elegance.
Jazz Ensemble

The Wilkes University Jazz Ensemble presents “Pop!”, a concert program featuring hit pop tunes from years past. Music includes works by Elton John, Adele Adkins, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Paul McCartney and John Lennon, Billie Eilish and more.
Civic Band

The Wilkes University Civic Band presents “Inner Light,” a concert program focusing on an individual’s experience through joy, family, home, nature, spirituality, faith and self. The program features musical works by Michael Markowski, Samuel R. Hazo, Julie Giroux, John Philip Sousa, Steve Danyew and David Maslanka.
