Wilkes University’s Nesbitt School of Pharmacy is proud to support the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) We’re Your Pharmacist campaign to promote the vital patient care provided by hospital and health-system pharmacists.
The Nesbitt School of Pharmacy is one of the first seven schools of pharmacy in the nation to sign on as a supporter.
“Pharmacists play an indispensable role in today’s hospitals and health systems,” said Jon Ference, dean of the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy. “Pharmacists serve not only as medication experts, but as vital members of the patient-care team who improve outcomes, enhance safety and advance innovation in healthcare delivery.”
The We’re Your Pharmacists campaign, launched in May 2024, includes a variety of written stories, videos and other communications strategies to share information with communities about the important role pharmacists play in patient care in all hospital and health system settings.
“Through this collaboration with ASHP, we’re proud to help student pharmacists and the public better understand the breadth of opportunities within health system pharmacy, ranging from clinical practice and research to informatics, leadership and policy,” said Ference. “The ‘We’re Your Pharmacist’ campaign reflects exactly what we teach at the Nesbitt School of Pharmacy – pharmacists are everywhere patients need us, driving better health through knowledge, compassion and collaboration.”
ASHP is the largest association of pharmacy professionals in the United States, representing 60,000 pharmacists, student pharmacists and pharmacy technicians in all patient care settings, including hospitals, ambulatory clinics and health system community pharmacies. For over 80 years, ASHP has championed innovation in pharmacy practice, advanced education and professional development, and served as a steadfast advocate for members and patients.
In addition, ASHP is the accrediting body for pharmacy residency and technician training programs and provides comprehensive resources to support pharmacy professionals through every stage of their careers. For more information about the We’re Your Pharmacists campaign, visit www.yourpharmacist.org
