The Center for Global Education and Diversity at Wilkes University recently presented its 2021 multicultural awards. The awards recognize students, faculty and staff who have supported and improved the diversity climate on campus, increased international awareness and promote cross-cultural awareness.
The following students, faculty and staff received awards:
Global Scholar and Citizen Award was presented to Yeison Andres Santamaria Rodriguez, a middle level education major from Panama and currently residing in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The award recognizes a student demonstrating significant contributions toward raising international awareness at Wilkes through involvement in campus and community activities promoting cross-cultural awareness.
Wilkes Diversity and Inclusion Student Award was presented to Brianna Rowland, a senior musical theater major from Pennsauken, N.J. The award recognizes a student who has contributed to improving the diversity climate on campus.
Wilkes Executive Diversity Award was presented to Paul Adams, vice president of student affairs. The award recognizes a member of the Board of Trustees or the administration who has contributed to improving the diversity climate on campus.
Wilkes Diversity Faculty Award was presented to Kimmy Nguyen and Troy Lynn Lewis, assistant professors of pharmacy practice. The award recognizes faculty members who have contributed to improving the diversity climate on campus.
Wilkes Diversity Staff Award was presented to Kristen Dalkiewicz from Aramark food service. The award recognizes a staff member who has contributed to improving the diversity climate on campus.
Global Scholar and Citizen Career Award was presented to Evene Estwick, associate professor and chair of communication studies. The award is presented to a faculty member who has significantly contributed toward increasing international knowledge and promoting cross-cultural awareness through academics, study abroad and involvement with campus activities.
