Wilkes President Patrick F. Leahy Honored By 
Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce

Wilkes University President Patrick F. Leahy was honored with the President’s Achievement Award by the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce. Leahy was recognized during the Chamber’s 2019 EPIC Awards. The EPIC Awards, which stands for Extraordinary People Inspiring Community,took place on Tuesday, June 11 at Wyoming Seminary’s Kirby Center for Creative Arts.

In honoring Leahy, Chamber president and CEO Wico van Genderen, cited his long-standing impact on the local community. Leahy will leave Wilkes at the end of July. 

Honorees with Wilkes ties also include: 

• The Allan P. Kirby Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship at Wilkes University, whichreceived the Community Celebration Award in recognition of its 25^thanniversary. 

• Tara Mugford Wilson, president of Power Engineering Corporation, who received the 2019 ATHENA Award. Mugford Wilson was recently appointed to the University’s board of trustees. She will begin her service this fall.
