Meet Phil Erickson
Major: Finance
Hometown: Eau Claire, Wisc.
Activities: Forward on the Men’s Ice Hockey
Favorite class: “The Historical Foundations of the Modern Worldwith Mr. Thomas J. Thomas (dean of University College).
Why did you choose Wilkes?
“The opportunity to help kickstart a brand-new hockey program while earning a degree that will benefit me for the rest of my life was something I could not pass up.”
Where do you live on campus?
“University Towers.”
What are your career goals?
“After finishing my degree, I plan to attend law school to become a corporate law attorney who works with companies on contracts, patents, and litigation. Later in life, I would also like to return to Wisconsin and get involved in local politics.”
How has it been adjusting to college?
“Adjusting to college has not been easy, but I believe the demands of athletics and academics have strengthened my time management skills.”
What don’t they tell you about coming to college that they should tell you?
“They don’t tell you about the coffee addiction you’re going to develop.”
What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve been given about starting your college journey?
“One essay/exam does not define the overall success you will have in college.”
