Family business owners can learn the keys to success at the seminar “Eleven Best Practices of Successful Family Businesses” at Wilkes University, Thursday, February 26. The event is presented by the Wilkes University Family Business Alliance.
The seminar will be at the Henry Student Center Ballroom, 84 W. South St., Wilkes-Barre, from 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. It is presented by Dick Kane, vice chairman for Kane is Able, Inc., a fourth-generation family business.
At the seminar, family business owners will learn specific traits and activities that allow family firms to prosper through the generations, as well as how to put such practices into play in their own businesses. They will be introduced to the “Best Practices Alignment Profile,” a tool to help identify the best practices performances within their firms. The profile indicates how well teams are aligned with their companies’ mission, goals and ownership priorities. Attendees will be able to create a personalized action plan to implement the Eleven Best Practices into their own organizations.
Attendees will also learn how they can take advantage of the synergistic relationship between the Family Business Alliance, Wilkes University and the Jay S. Sidhu School of Business & Leadership to support their family firms’ success.
Kane is executive in residence for the Family Business Alliance, and is Owners Council at Kane is Able, Inc., one of northeastern Pennsylvania’s largest and most successful local companies, now in its 85th year of business. During his tenure as CEO at Kane is Able, Inc., his guidance helped to triple the size of business in 12 years, transforming the company from a regional trucking and warehouse operation into a national logistics solution provider.
