Consent, Safety, & Support for LGBTQIA+ Students with Jacob Kelley
October 1 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

LGBTQIA college students experience sexual violence at disproportionately higher rates than their heterosexual and cisgender peers and
often face additional barriers to reporting, accessing resources, and receiving affirming support. National data indicate that approximately 23–26% of LGBTQIA undergraduate students report experiencing sexual assault during college, compared to 18–20% of non-LGBTQIA students, with nearly 1 in 2 transgender and nonbinary students reporting some form of sexual violence. Additionally, over 60% of LGBTQIA survivors do not formally report incidents due to fear of discrimination, being outed, or lack of confidence in institutional response. This Student-Focused LGBTQIA Workshop will address increased risk factors, consent education, harm-reduction strategies, reporting options, and campus and community resources, delivered in an affirming and empowering manner that centers student agency and community care. This workshop will be held in SIMMS 231.
