AFS Presents: A Screening and Discussion of ‘I Am Not Your Negro’
Sunday, April 13 | 5:00–7:00 PM | Savitz Lounge
Come for the food. Stay for the film. Leave with something to talk about.
Narrated by Samuel L. Jackson, Raoul Peck’s acclaimed documentary is based on James Baldwin’s unfinished manuscript Remember This House—a deeply personal account of the lives and assassinations of three of his close friends: Medgar Evers, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Malcolm X. Weaving Baldwin’s extraordinary words together with archival footage, the film traces the history of race and racism in America from the Civil Rights Movement to the present. It is a powerful, beautiful, and unforgettable film.
The evening will include a full screening of the film, catered food, and a guided discussion.
