News@Wilkes is the official news site of Wilkes University. It publishes stories – in print, video and multi-media formats – that reflect the dynamic community that is Wilkes. The site is committed to publishing new, original content that goes beyond news releases to capture the programs, people and events at the University. News@Wilkes is developed and maintained by the Marketing Communications Department.
What We Publish
Good stories are what drives our choice of what appears on News@Wilkes. Our goal is to choose stories that tap into the energy and experience of life for our students, faculty and staff at Wilkes University. Our stories fall into five categories:
Wilkes President Patrick F. Leahy has often said, “You can’t be a true university without an enduring commitment to the arts.” From student performances in our instrumental and choral ensembles to the exhibitions featured in the Sordoni Art Gallery, stories in the arts section of News@Wilkes capture that enduring commitment.
- Research and Scholarship
One of the things that defines Wilkes University is its research culture. Students engage in research as part of their academic study in virtually every discipline from communication studies to engineering. Our faculty are engaged in ground-breaking research on issues of global importance at a level usually only found at large research universities. Stories featured under research and scholarship highlight the dynamic nature of the work of our faculty and students. When you visit this section, you can also learn more about what is happening in our classes and academic majors.
- Student Life
Stories under our student life section highlight what it is like to be a student at Wilkes University – in and out of the classroom. Visit this section to learn about the many ways students take advantage of the opportunities of a large university in the mentoring culture of a small college, open to all who show potential.
