Wilkes University sophomore biology major Madison Ensley made headlines as a two-sport athlete for the Colonels. But it wasn’t just because she’s played in 12 games this spring for Wilkes softball, hitting .375, in addition to playing field hockey in the fall. Ensley is legally deaf. But with the support of her teammates and coaches, Ensley doesn’t see it as a disadvantage; it’s just part of her.
“Overall, I think it’s just a part of who I am and I think I just learned to deal with it and use it as a strength,” Ensley said. “Because I may not be able to hear, I can pay more attention visually, use my eye sight, other strengths that I have.”
