Wilkes Women’s Soccer Organizes Second Annual Holiday Gift Drive for Local Elementary

by Nick Penglase

This holiday season, P3 pharmacy student Amanda Lee worked tirelessly, along with her coaches, to put together the second annual Wilkes Women’s Soccer Holiday Gift Drive. Building on the success of their inaugural year in 2024, Lee brought together 14 teams across Wilkes athletics, as well as the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins minor league hockey team, to serve 400 students of Dr. David W. Kistler Elementary in Wilkes-Barre with gifts and holiday cheer.

In early 2024, Lee, along with the rest of the Wilkes women’s soccer team, volunteered at Dr. David W. Kistler Elementary, revitalizing the school by refurbishing their library and giving fresh coats of paint to outdoor benches. Still, after all was done, Lee felt there was more she could do to help give back to the students. It was then that she developed her idea for the holiday gift drive, as well as a reading program for younger students at the school.
