Division of Performing Arts Presents Winter Concert Series from Dec. 4-10

Wilkes University’s Division of Performing Arts will present its winter concert series from Dec. 4-10, 2023. The concerts, all free and open to the public, will be held at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church. 

The events include: 

Chamber Orchestra Concert
Monday, Dec. 4, at 8 p.m.
Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts
John Vaida, Director
The Wilkes University Chamber Orchestra will present its winter concert, featuring a selection of orchestral literature.

Reimagined: A Concert of Musical Works with a Twist 
Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m.
Dorothy Dickson Darte Center  for the Performing Arts
This performance by Wilkes University’s Civic Band features composers Andrew Boysen Jr., Gordon Jacob, John Barnes Chance, Leroy Anderson and Erika Svanoe.

Take a Trip: A Concert Journey
Thursday, Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m.
Dorothy Dickson Darte Center  for the Performing Arts
Wilkes University’s Jazz Ensemble will perform a selection of music by Newman, Herb Brown, Berlin Gershwin and more.

Continuum: A Choral Concatenate 
Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m.
St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 35 South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 
Joshua Harper, Assistant Professor of Music, Conductor
This performance by Wilkes University Chorus and Wilkes Chamber Singers will feature “Kleine Orgelmesse” by Haydn as well as works by Hildegard, Josquin, Tallis, Dawson, Reena Esmail, Bob Dylan, B.E. Boykin and Shaw/Parker.
