Wilkes University Upward Bound Program Celebrates 2022 Graduates

The Upward Bound Program at Wilkes University graduated 38 students at its 2022 graduation ceremony on Thursday, April 28. The ceremony was held in the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center for the Performing Arts. The federally funded program is designed to prepare eligible high school students for success in post-secondary education.

The graduates received their alumni pins during the ceremony, which were presented by Wilkes University Upward Bound staff. The Upward Bound Program has been funded at Wilkes University for 55 years.

Four awards were presented to seven students at the graduation:

  • Academic Award: Christopher Kopiak, Wilkes-Barre Area
  • Student of the Year Award: Odesia Griffith, Hanover Area
  • Progress Award: Emily Whitesell, Northwest Area
  • Perfect Attendance Award: Litzy Castro and Jenny Nguyen, Wilkes-Barre Area; Megan Ralston and Veronica Nunez, Hanover Area
