High School Students Compete For $10,000 in Scholarships at Wilkes University Engineering Olympics

The team from Pottsville Area High School beat out nine other schools during the Engineering Olympics at Wilkes University on April 12.  The event, sponsored by the Wilkes University Chapter of IEEE, awarded the winning team $10,000 in scholarships to attend Wilkes. The event was held in the Arnaud C. Marts Sport and Conference Center and included high school teams from Pittston, Dunmore, West Scranton, Meyers, Nanticoke, Wyoming Seminary, Wyoming Valley West and Pottsville.

The teams competed in five different events to test their engineering skills including circuit building, designing models out of LEGOs, constructing catapults and creating a water filtration system.
