A group of nursing students stopped by the John Wilkes statue on the Fenner Quad to wish “J Dubs” a happy 293rd birthday.

Wilkes was an English radical, journalist, and politician. He was born in 1725 to Sarah and Israel Wilkes, Jr., a successful distiller. Known as a champion of liberty, Wilkes was repeatedly expelled from Parliament for his actions. His popular support is thought to be the beginning of English Radicalism. He died on December 26, 1797.
