Wilkes University has committed $100,000 over a five-year period to the River Commons in Wilkes-Barre. The $20,000 annual voluntary payment will help add more concerts and events to the common area along the Susquehanna River.
King’s College and Luzerne County will also contribute, bringing the five-year total to nearly $250,000 between the three organizations.
“We are proud to partner with Luzerne County, the Riverfront Parks Committee, and King’s College to expand programming at one of our area’s most valuable assets: the riverfront parks,” said Wilkes University President Patrick F. Leahy. “The betterment of the community is among our core values at Wilkes University. We are pleased to support and enhance a recreational area that is located so close to our campus.”
