Wilkes University communication studies students will hear stories from the front lines of politics during this year’s raucus presidential primary season when one of Face The Nation’s directors, Brian Nalesnik, visits on Thursday, March 17. Nalesnik, a 1990 Wilkes graduate, will visit with communication studies students in Professor Jane Elmes-Crahall’s “Controlling Spin” class at 9;30 a.m in Stark Learning Center, Room 260.
Nalesnik will share insights about the challenges faced by journalists in this year’s hotly contested race to the nomination. Face The Nation is a Sunday morning public affairs program broadcast on CBS and is one of the longest-running programs in television history. It debuted in 1954.
The “Controlling Spin” class, which focuses on political rhetoric and communication, is offered every four years during presidential primary season. In addition to meeting with the class, Nalesnik also will meet with students who produce the campus cable television program, Wilkes Now.
Nalesnik became a director of Face The Nation in December 2015 and had previously served in other capacities with the program. Prior to joining Face The Nation, he had been a director at CNBC and worked on the show Countdown with Keith Olbermann from a 2003 to 2008.
