Kathy Price Kautter ’72 Scholarship Awarded to First Recipient at Wilkes University

Shelby Petro of Catawissa, Pa., a junior psychology major at Wilkes University, is the first recipient of the Kathy Price Kautter ’72 Scholarship. Petro is a research assistant to Dr. Ellen Newell, assistant professor of psychology, and is a member of Psi Chi, the psychology honor society. She has been on the dean’s list since the fall of 2013 and currently has a GPA of 4.0. 
 

Kathy J. Price Kautter and her husband, David, established the Kathy Price Kautter ‘72 Scholarship at Wilkes in 2011. It is awarded to a student from the Wyoming Valley who is pursuing a degree in liberal arts, has a 3.0 GPA, shows a strong work ethic and a demonstrated financial need.

In receiving the award, Petro said, “When I met Kathy at the John Wilkes Society Luncheon I thought she was an incredible woman with a wealth of experience and I felt honored to be her first recipient and to meet her and thank her in person. Kathy and I got along enormously well and I plan to ask her for academic and career advice in my future.”
